Today is the first day of sightseeing. We visit Swoyambhu Stupa and Bouddhanath Stupa. Both are major heritage sites for Buddhism. Swayambhu is located on the western edge of Kathmandu, on a hill. Swayambhu is also known as the Monkey Temple. It is dated back centuries ago of Lichhivi Era. Bouddhanath Stupa is on the northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. It is one of the largest stupas in the world. Bouddhanath was founded by Lichhivi King Sivadeva 590-604 CE.

Today we go to Bhairahawa Airport on a scenic 45min flight followed by the 1-hr drive to Lumbini.

Lumbini is the birthplace of Lord Buddha and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Queen Mayadevi give birth to Siddhartha Gautam in 563 BC. Lumbini has many temples including Maya Devi Temple. There is a pond called Pukalani, where Queen Maya Devi took a ritual dip prior to giving birth to Lord Buddha, where he had his first bath. We visit Mahayana, Theravada Monstery and Mayadevi Temple. There is another attraction that is Ashoka Pillar, which was built by an Indian emperor after he visited Lumbini.

Today we drive to the ancient town of Kapilvastu, Tilaurakot. We explore the religious and archaeological sites here, Gotihawa, Niglihar, Kudan, and Sagarhawa. Tilaurakot was the capital of Shakyas, where Gautam Buddha spent his early 29 years. Kudan is also known as the Nigrodharma Park, which was built by King Suddhodhana for Buddha and the followers. Gotihawa is the birthplace of Kakusudhna Buddha and Niglihawa where the Kanakkmuni Buddha was born. Sagrahawa is the massacre center where thousands of Shakyas were massacred by King Virudhaka.

After finishing our Lumbini tour, we fly back to Kathmandu and have the rest of the day for leisure and shopping. In the evening, we join a dinner at a culture restaurant with folk songs and dance performance.
